15 Jul 2024 We welcome IECD-LIberia and Mercy Corps to our center

The Mental Health Unit of the Benedict Menni Health Center of Monrovia recently welcomed a group of representatives of the IECD-Liberia and Mercy Corps, interested in knowing who we are and the work we do, and in exploring possible avenues of future collaboration.

IECD is an international solidarity organization founded in 1988, operating in 18 countries in Africa, the Middle East, the Indian Ocean and Southeast Asia. Together with local partners, it works in the fields of education, professional training and insertion, and entrepreneurship, with the aim of creating environments and sharing knowledge that lead people in the places where it operates to improve their living conditions, become protagonists in the development of their countries and contribute to a more equitable society.

Mercy Corpos works in more than 40 countries affected by poverty, natural disasters, violent conflicts or the impacts of climate change, both in crisis situations and in longer-term development cooperation projects.

In Liberia, both organizations are focused on promoting sustainable development in the country by providing children and young people with living conditions and education that contribute to the development of their talent, employability and interest in entrepreneurship.

During their visit, the IECD and Mercy Corps representatives received detailed information from sisters, the center’s coordinator and staff about our programs for women with mental illness or substance use problems, entrepreneurship support, training for health professionals and our scholarships.
