27 May 2024 We visited the Médecins Sans Frontières mental health program in Monrovia.
On May 8, a delegation from the Benedict Menni Center had the opportunity to visit three of the centers where Médecins Sans Frontières provides mental health services in Monrovia.
The delegation was formed by the Head of Programs of the Benedict Menni Center and CEO of Hermanas Hospitalarias Aita Menni, Mikel Tellaeche, the coordinator of the Mental Health Unit of Monrovia, Ato Kwamena Sagoe, and the care director of Hermanas Hospitalarias Aita Menni, José Luis Girón.
The Benedict Menni group was accompanied on the visit by several members of the team led by Dr. Yann Diplo, director of MSF in Liberia: Sonny Israel (Mental Health project coordinator), Dr. Isayaku Sule (Medical Projects referent) and Fazle Elahi (Mental Health coordinator).
The centers they visited were RCD Marshall Clinic in Mango Town (Virginia), Clara Town Health Center and The Star of the Sea Health Center in West Point.
MSF serves a group of about 2,500 people, 60% of whom have neurological pathology (epilepsy) and the remaining 40% have mental illness.
MSF and Benedict Menni Health Center maintain a collaboration agreement for the care of women with mental illness in our Mental Health Unit at Pipeline.
Our appreciation and gratitude to the generous and important mission of MSF in Liberia.
