18 Sep 2024 Liberia Mental Health Unit Support Team Meeting
The Aita Menni Hospital yesterday hosted a meeting of the team supporting the Mental Health Unit of the Benedict Menni Center in Monrovia (Liberia), with which the Hospital works closely.
The meeting was attended by the managing director of Aita Menni Sisters Hospitallers, Mikel Tellaeche, head of Pastoral and Solidarity Egoitz Zabala, psychologist Macarena Aspiunza and nurse Cecilia Alvarez, as well as Cristina Bressel and Enrique Gonzalez, who volunteered as nurses earlier this year in the Mental Health Unit in the African country.
Sr Lourdes Sanz, superior of the Sisters Hospitallers in England and Estefanía Ibáñez, a psychiatrist who has recently arrived at the Mental Health Unit in Monrovia and who will remain there until December, also took part in the videoconference.
The meeting served to create a working group to coordinate activities with the local Liberian team and support the work of the new psychiatrist, and to evaluate the volunteer experiences through the experience of those who carry it out.
For the mission of the Sisters Hospitallers in Liberia it is a privilege to count on the dedication of these professionals for the improvement of care for people with mental illness.
