13 Jul 2023 Spreading awareness about mental illness

Among our objectives is not only to care for people with mental illness, but also to educate and raise awareness of this problem in a country where there is still too much ignorance about the reality of these illnesses and, consequently, a high degree of stigmatization of the people who suffer from them.

For this reason, part of our team recently embarked on a 245 km. journey to the town of Voinjama, in the northwest of Liberia, where we were welcomed by the Missionary Sisters of the Holy Rosary. There, the Sisters develop educational and social projects, and thanks to them, more than a hundred men, women and children received information about mental illnesses, their causes, manifestations and ways to prevent them.
