28 Sep 2016 Benito Menni Foundation holds in Pamplona a Forum on Mental Disease and Health in Africa
The Benito Menni Foundation held on September 21st a Forum in Pamplona about Mental Disease and Health in Africa, with the aim of making people conscious on the need to train professionals and raise awareness on this issue.
The attendees to this Forum had the chance to listen to some professionals and volunteers who work in this area in Africa, as Prof. Samuel Mampunza Ma Miezi, dean of the School of Psychiatry at the University of Kinshasa, Congo, sister Hospitaller Filipina Alonso, nurse at the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center in Mahotas (Maputo, Mozambique), doctor Manuel Martín, president of the European Council of Psychiatric Societies and psychiatrist at Father Menni Clinic in Pamplona and Benito Menni Hospital in Elizondo, Spain, –who has recently spent one month and a half training staff in Sisters Hospitallers´ hospitals and health centers in Liberia, Ghana and Mozambique; and Mikel Tellaeche, CEO of Aita Menni Hospital in Arrasate-Mondragón, Spain, and member of the Technical Advisors Board for Mental Health of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of Liberia, who coordinates the We Are Like You project, which contents and status explained to the attendees.
